Charlie had a super busy weekend! It all started Friday evening when he had to get an "emergency" bath. My parents were setting up for a garage sale that we were having the next morning, when Charlie, who was being watched by my inattentive dad and brother, decided that rolling in the grass would be a very good idea. Something just smelled so good to him and it deserved smushing...it was a slug. Of course I had just finished eating when Charlie did this and was upstairs getting ready for my shower. Now I decided to kill two birds with one stone so gave Charlie a bath in the shower again, before my shower. Now if you have never tried to get grass and slug off a dog who is really furry, well it isn't an easy task. It took about half an hour and two shampoo scrubbings before I finally got it all off! He didn't enjoy his shower all that much this time because he knew he had been a "bad" dog and it wasn't as warm out. He quickly fell asleep that night, though that was for sure!
The next day was the garage sale. My parents were up early, ~7 am, and started putting the finishing touches on the sale at 8. I had work Saturday at 9:30 so I didn't have a chance to help at all. Work passed quickly enough, which was nice, and I was quickly home again. I found out it had been a slow day for my parents, but Charlie had helped a lot. He had stayed outside the whole entire time and played mascot! He didn't sleep at all, but as the garage sale was just dying down and my dad went to get the signs, I stayed outside and kept my mom company and held Charlie. Charlie was still awake, but he sure was a heavy weight on my lap! He helped with the clean up by getting in the way. He had also gone with my mom earlier to get the mail and played with his friend Buddy. Such a busy day for such a little guy!
After the clean up and after we had rested for a good hour and a half, the family went out to dinner, Charlie stayed home. We went to Bamboo Kitchen, a local Chinese Restaurant. It was sooooooooooo good. There aren't many really good Chinese places in Redmond so when you find one that is pretty decent, you eat a lot and eat a lot I did. I hadn't had much throughout the day because of work so I was pretty hungry. The portions at this place aren't small and I ate almost every single bite of my Chow Mien. It was vegetable Chow Mien and although I am not a vegetable fan, I even ate the veggies sans the Bamboo Shoots. Bleh!
After dinner we headed back home, got Charlie, and headed to Maltby, a small little country town about 30 minutes from Redmond. We had heard about a really good ice cream place with lots of flavors and wanted to give it a try. Charlie sure enjoyed his car ride. He got to stick his head out the window on the way to Woodinville, but then I got cold, so from Woodinville to Maltby he sat on my lap. When we got to Maltby and found the ice cream place we were disappointed, the ice cream place was closed! It closed at 6:00 and it was now 7:00. I suggested another local ice cream place called Theno's Dairy, a short 5 minute drive from my house. So back to Redmond we went. Luckily, Theno's was opened! They have a good selection of choices so we all got what we liked. My dad got his usual Vanilla, my brother got Chocolate Chip, my mom chocolate, and for myself, Cake Batter. Charlie got to lick some ice cream off my brother's finger and finish off my dad's cone. He doesn't miss out! We got home and Charlie quickly crashed! Since it was Saturday evening Charlie and I had our weekly slumber party and he slept in my room. He sure takes up a lot of room for a small dog!
Today was a lazy day for the most part. Charlie was woken up at about 7:30 and me at 8. He played with his toy and after I ate breakfast came upstairs with me. Now as usual on Sunday mornings, the week catches up to me and I just can not keep my eyes opened. I laid down on the couch and of course Charlie had to come and see me when he came upstairs. He jumped up on the couch and gave me a lot of kisses then jumped back down. About five, maybe ten minutes later he jumped up again and gave me more kisses and jumped down. This happened two more times! Finally, I got up because I had to go and meet some friends for a picnic. I went into my room to get clothes and Charlie came with me. He looked at my bed then he looked at me and I knew he wanted to see me on my bed, so I laid down on my bed and he jumped up. He gave me his usual kisses before jumping down. That was the last time because he was content after that!
Charlie slept most of the day, but we did have some dogs come and visit. He had to sniff them all! After I had an apple and he had to come and have some too. My dad also smoked some chicken, so Charlie had to go out and sniff around the smoker for some crumbs. What a crazy dog.
Right now Charlie is else where in the house probably resting and waiting for my parents to come in to the media room. Such a life he has!
Charlie likes to have his head out the window!
